Yes. Wearing a helmet can retain lots of dust and other harmful pollutant particles in the scalp and hair strands, which can cause damage. Often the scalp gets sweaty when you wear a helmet for long durations. Unclean helmets become the hotbed for bacteria, which can lead to problems like folliculitis. Also too tight or ill-fitting helmets can also damage the hair. Dandruff, itchy scalp, frizzy breakable hair are some of the common side effects of wearing a helmet which ultimately cause untimely and premature hair loss because of traction alopecia. This does not mean that you should not wear a helmet. A helmet is a must when driving a two wheeler.
